2017 Honda Accord Coupe vs 2017 Toyota 86

For the 2017 model year, the big changes for the Accord lineup all encapsulate the all-new 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid. The coupe underwent plenty of changes last year to still be fresh and exciting this year though, and it certainly has an exciting new competitor that we thought we’d compare it to. The 2017 Toyota 86 is the result of the discontinuation of the Scion brand, so we thought we’d see how the sporty 2017 Honda Accord Coupe measures up to the new sports car.

Advantages of the 2017 Honda Accord Coupe

After one quick glance at the table above, it looks like the two vehicles are quite comparable to one another. But a closer look reveals that the advantages are all in favor of the Accord Coupe, and they get steeper as the table moves on. But let’s start at the very top, with city fuel efficiency. While sports cars like these continuously get more efficient as technology continues to improve, they’re still not quite as efficient as other vehicles on the market. These two, however, are quite impressive, yet the Accord Coupe still utilizes 0.8 and 0.5 l/100km less fuel on the city and highway respectively than the new Toyota 86.

Those advantages aren’t that steep though, so the Toyota 86 is definitely still in contention after just fuel efficiency. The Accord Coupe might save you a few quarters at the pump, but in this market that’s not quite enough. However, as we mentioned, the advantages get steeper as the table moves on. So let’s take a look at their trunks, where the Accord Coupe offers an extra 6.8 cubic feet of space to fill with luggage or groceries. Considering the 86’s trunk is only 6.9 cu. ft., the Accord Coupe’s trunk is literally almost twice as big as the Toyota 86’s.

Plus, the Coupe offers an extra 25.7 cu. ft. of room in the cabin for you and your passengers to stretch out and get comfortable in, which is always a huge plus. If you think these advantages are enough to lean you towards the 2017 Honda Accord Coupe, be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our website so that you can come try one out for yourself.
