2017 Honda Accord Hybrid vs 2016 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid

Unfortunately for Volkswagen enthusiasts, the Jetta won’t be offering a hybrid version in the upcoming model year. It’s unfortunate to see hybrid vehicles drop off the market, as we’d love to see more and more hybrid vehicles available. Though no matter how many fish in the sea, we will think the Accord Hybrid is one of if not the best option you can consider. So we thought we’d see how the new Accord Hybrid measures up to the Jetta’s last hybrid option, by pitting the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid vs 2016 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid.

Advantages of the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid

The table up above shows the three most important aspects of any vehicle: power, efficiency and space. So let’s dive right in at the top, with power. As we’ve mentioned elsewhere on our site, the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid offers more power this year than ever before, and might just offer the most power in its segment at 212 horsepower – which is a whopping 42 hp more than the last Jetta Hybrid. Yet even though it offers that much extra power, it also achieves slightly better fuel efficiency by 0.3 l/100km combined.

In terms of space, the Accord Hybrid keeps its edge up by offering an extra 2.4 cu. ft. in the trunk. That could be enough space for one or two whole extra suitcases. But the cabin is larger as well, by nearly 4 whole extra cubic feet. That means you and your friends or family or whoever else is in the car will have a ton of extra space to stretch out and get comfortable in, which is always nice.

Obviously the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid makes a better option than the old VW Jetta Hybrid. Hopefully Volkswagen decides to offer another Jetta Hybrid in the future, in which case we’ll revisit this battle. But until then, if you think you’re interested in the Accord Hybrid, go ahead and schedule a test drive here on our website or by giving us a call right at the sales desk.
