2017 Honda Civic Hatchback vs 2017 Honda Fit

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback vs 2017 Honda Fit

Everyone is excited about the brand-new Civic Hatchback, but what makes it better or more practical than the Honda Fit? The Honda Fit is still an excellent hatchback option, but as the table above will tell you, the Civic Hatchback is more spacious, more powerful and even more efficient than its little sibling. We wanted to show you some of the similarities and differences between the two hatchbacks by comparing the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback vs 2017 Honda Fit.

Advantages of the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

As we already mentioned, the table above showcases some of the similarities and differences between the two Honda hatchbacks. We analyzed the four most important aspects of hatchbacks like these, and unsurprisingly the Civic Hatchback trumped the Fit in each category. But that’s mostly because it’s a compact hot hatch, while the Honda Fit is a subcompact hatchback designed for more practical drivers. For instance, the first row highlights the fact that the Civic Hatchback offers an extra 44 horsepower. But the Honda Fit doesn’t necessarily need all those extra horses, as it wasn’t designed to be a sporty performance machine.

Actually, we were surprised by one thing. We thought for sure that the Honda Fit would be more efficient than the Civic Hatchback, but the Fit utilizes an extra 0.4 l/100km on average across city streets and the highway. That’s not a huge disadvantage, and we assume the next iteration of the Honda Fit will correct this and be even more efficient.

Space simply makes sense, as the Civic belongs to a bigger classification than the Fit. So its extra 9.1 cu. ft. of cargo capacity and 10.6 cu. ft. of passenger volume aren’t that surprising or much of a setback. If you want the bigger car, you’d be more interested in the Civic Hatchback anyway.
