2017 Honda Fit vs 2017 Toyota Corolla iM

With all of the commotion encapsulating the all-new, tenth-generation Honda Civic lineup, we feel as though some of our other great vehicles are beginning to be forgotten about. We wanted to make sure you still knew just how great our other hatchback sedan is, by comparing the 2017 Honda Fit vs 2017 Toyota Corolla iM. The iM is a new hatchback model for the Toyota Corolla, adopted from the late Scion vehicle after their child brand was discontinued. The Fit, as you know, is an aptly-named hatchback that has been turning heads for well over a decade.

Advantages of the 2017 Honda Fit

The table above looks at some of the most important aspects of hatchback sedans like these two, and showcases just how similar the two vehicles are to one another – at the same time highlighting exactly why Honda and Toyota have been such heated rivals for so long. Let’s start from the top of the table and dive right in, to see just how comparable the two vehicles are to one another.

The first row depicts the combined average of fuel efficiency for the two hatchbacks. The Honda Fit utilizes 0.4 litres less fuel to travel the same distance as the Toyota Corolla iM on the highway and through city streets combined. That’s not a massive advantage, but it will be enough to save you some cash at the gas pump over time.

Power, however, is at a loss for the Honda Fit. Our favorite subcompact hatchback gives up 7 horses to its Toyota competitor, which again isn’t much. In fact, that 7 horsepower would be all but wiped out when you look at the third row, as the Fit weighs a whopping 430 lbs. less than the Corolla iM.

Finally, we took a look at how much space you and your passengers would have to stretch out in in the cabin of the two vehicles. Once again they’re both extremely close to one another, but the Honda fit squeaks out in front with an extra 1.1 cu. ft. of space. If these advantages are enough for you, then be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our site or by giving us a call at the sales desk.
