2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

We’ve been waiting patiently for more than 3 years for the arrival of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, and now it’s so close we can almost taste it! We’ve already taken a look at how the Ridgeline will measure up to most of the 2016 model year trucks – including midsize and full-size pickups – but we finally have another 2017 model to measure it up against. Not many specifics are known about the new competitor as of yet, but we’re excited to see how the 2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor turns out.

Advantages of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline

Although the specs & features of the Honda Ridgeline were finally unveiled a few weeks ago, Ford hasn’t yet released much information about the F-150 Raptor. So going off of the information we do have, we built the table at the top of this page. Starting with the top column, it looks like despite belonging to two different segments the trucks each have very similar engines. Both trucks offer a 3.5L V6, with one being Honda’s EarthDreams technology and the other being Ford’s EcoBoost. Each engine is designed to offer a nice blend of power and efficiency, but with the Raptor being larger it will likely offer more horsepower and less fuel efficiency.

Perhaps the only disadvantage that the Ridgeline truly has in comparison to the F-150 Raptor is its transmission, as Ford has installed its brand-new 10-speed automatic while Honda only provides a 6-speed automatic. However, surprisingly, the Ridgeline does offer larger wheels by an inch. That might not be an advantage that offers a lot of improvements or enhancements, but some drivers prefer larger wheels, and the Ridgeline has them.

Lastly, even though the Raptor will likely offer quite a bit more horsepower, the Ridgeline does weigh nearly 1,300 lbs. less than its Ford competitor. That means the Ridgeline doesn’t need quite as much power to offer the same great driving experience. It might not provide the same heavy-duty capabilities, but it will certainly deliver an enjoyable experience behind the wheel.
