Refreshed 2015 Honda CR-V offers improved efficiency, new commodities

2015 Honda CR-V vs. 2014 Honda CR-V

A mid-cycle refresh has left the Honda CR-V looking and feeling a little different for the 2015 model year. But don’t worry, all the changes are for the better, making the 2015 model an even better value for those of you seeking a new crossover. To better illustrate the new features and changes for the 2015 model year, we’ll compare the 2015 Honda CR-V vs 2014 Honda CR-V so you can decide which model better meets that delicate balance between affordability and quality.

New CR-V Earth Dreams Engine

As the most significant refresh in the CR-V’s history, fuel economy is perhaps the most dramatic change from the 2014 to the 2015 model year. According to the EPA, fuel-economy increased by *58.8 L/100 km in the city and on the highway in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Not only was Honda able to improve efficiency, it was able to do so without sacrificing a drop of of power. In fact, the new direct-injected Earth Dreams Technology i-VTEC four-cylinder engine actually offers 11 percent more torque than the outgoing model.

But an increase in efficiency and torque are only the beginning of the list of improvements when it comes to comparing the 2015 Honda CR-V vs. 2014 Honda CR-V. The refreshed crossover also receives a new continuously variable transmission, which aids in the CR-V’s efficiency enhancements.

Inside, the 2015 Honda CR-V gets a redesigned center console armrest. Although that might not sound like the most eye-popping new feature, it’s actually really practical, as it sports rear console ventilation ducts that help with rear seat ventilation and heating.

While everything mentioned above is a standard feature on the 2015 Honda CR-V, the refreshed CR-V also gets a host of newly available features. Namely, you’ll now be able to equip the CR-V with a power tailgate, LED daytime running lights and a 10-way heated driver’s seat with memory functions among others. To enhance driver awareness, the new crossover can also be equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of active safety features.

Look for the 2015 Honda CR-V on the Wheaton Honda lot in the coming months, as it will join the redesigned Honda Fit and several other 2015 models already in the showroom.
