The Honda Pilot is one of the most recognizable names in its class, so when it came time to unveil the all-new 2016 model, Honda knew the spotlight would shine brightly on the next-generation SUV. While that might sound like a lot of pressure, Honda lived up to the hype by unveiling a restyled, revamped, and completely updated version of its popular eight-passenger SUV. As a complete package, the Honda Pilot is one of the most anticipated models of the 2016 model year and will be a great addition to the Wheaton Honda lot when it arrives this summer. While it will be looked at as one of the top models in its class, the details and improvements throughout the SUV are what set it apart. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the best new features of the 2016 Honda Pilot.
If you are familiar with hybrid vehicles, stop-start technology is nothing new, but the 2016 Honda Pilot will be the first Honda to feature the technology in a non-hybrid vehicle. Simply put, stop-start technology seamlessly shuts the engine down temporarily rather than idling. It then restarts it when it’s time to drive to help save on fuel. Honda is dubbing the technology “Idle Stop technology.”
Available Heated Front and Second Row Seats
Edmonton is home to unforgiving cold many winter days. To help keep warm, Honda is adding available heated seats in the front and second row seats. Heated seats are the fastest way to get warm in a vehicle, as they come in direct contact with the body rather than warming the air around occupants.
The addition of Idle Stop technology will help improve efficiency, but the new Honda Pilot is also 136 kg lighter than the outgoing model, which is expected to further enhance fuel economy ratings.
In a world where smartphones, tablets and laptops are must-haves, Honda added more USB ports, power outlets and HDMI inputs than ever before. An upgraded entertainment system with Blu-ray capabilities also is available for the new model year.
There is much more to the 2016 Honda Pilot than the features mentioned above, such as a new V-6 engine and an all-new 9-speed transmission, but these additions are designed to make your life a little easier and your daily commute more efficient.
