Put your Canadian pride on display with these Canada Day activities
Canada Day brings a wave of patriotism and a sense of community throughout the country. As we celebrate Canada’s 148th birthday this year, it’s important to come together and pay tribute to the great country in which we all live. For those of us in Edmonton, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and put your patriotism on display. To help you plan your Canada Day 2015 in Edmonton AB, here are a few events and activities to get you started.

The Canada Day Road Race is a great way to kick off the day. The 15K walk begins at 7 a.m., with the 15k Run/Walk to follow at 7:30 a.m. There is also a shorter 2.5K run/Walk beginning at 7:40 for those who want to get some leisurely early morning exercise. There is not race day registration, so sign up now and be sure to pick up your race day packet during one of the designated times.

Canada isn’t the only one celebrating a birthday on July 1, as the Edmonton Valley Zoo is also celebrating its 56th anniversary. Those attending the zoo on Canada Day will collectively sing “Oh Canada” and get to enjoy a Red and White Canadian mini cupcake! There is plenty else to do at the zoo as well, including a scavenger hunt, Adventure Bus, and live music, among other activities.

After a morning at the Canada Day Road Race and an afternoon at the zoo, cap off Canada Day 2015 in Edmonton AB with an amazing fireworks show. Displayed over Edmonton’s river valley parks and the Saskatchewan River, there are plenty of great places to relax and watch the spectacle in the sky as Canada Day 2015 comes to an end.
