Honda has officially announced the release date for the 2016 Honda Pilot, and as that date quickly approaches, more and more drivers are on the lookout for more details, specs, and options available in the next-generation SUV. While we’ve highlighted some of the best new features of the new Pilot and comparing it to some of its top competitors, we haven’t spent as much time discussing what the 2016 Pilot is capable of.
How Much Can The 2016 Honda Pilot Tow?
Capable towing is part of what has made the Honda Pilot such a versatile option in the past, and that doesn’t change for the 2016 model year. In fact, it gets better.
The 2016 Honda Pilot is capable of towing 1588 kg in 2WD configurations and 2268 kg when equipped with 4WD. By comparison, the 2015 Honda Pilot is capable of towing 1,590 kg with front-wheel drive while the AWD model can two 2,045 kg. While the front-wheel drive models are nearly identical, all-wheel drive versions of the 2016 Honda Pilot can two more than 200 kg more than the outgoing model. In each model, drivers will need the accessory towing package, which can be easily installed at the in the Wheaton Honda Service Center.
How Much Trunk Space is in the 2016 Honda Pilot?
The 2016 Honda Pilot is a great vehicle for modern families, which is evident by the number of standard and available connectivity options throughout the cabin. But tech-savvy family or not, there is one thing ever family vehicle requires — space.
The 2016 Honda Pilot provides plenty of that, with 524 litres of trunk space when all three rows of seats are in place. Of course, that number increases as you take rows out of the picture. With just the second row, the 2016 Pilot offers 1,583 litres of cargo space and with both rear seats gone, you’ll experience as many as 1,978 litres in the Touring trim.
