Welcome back to Meetin’ Wheaton Wednesdays! We are excited for you to meet two more of the great staff members at Wheaton Honda. This week, we will get to know a couple of our wonderful new car salespeople. Wheaton Honda is happy to introduce our New Car Salesmen Brandon Fillatre and Dan Macyk! In the above photo, you can see Brandon on the left and Dan on the right. When you are looking to buy a new Honda vehicle, these are the friendly faces that will greet you and help you through the entire car buying process. We will ask Brandon and Dan some questions to get to know them a little better.
What are your roles here at Wheaton Honda?
Brandon: We are new car sales consultants.
Dan: I am also the fleet manager, Brandon loves that fact.
When did you start working at Wheaton Honda and why?
Dan: I started at Wheaton Honda in October of 2002. I needed a job and I chose Wheaton Honda because it had a good reputation as being an honest dealership with quality individuals. Plus, Honda was very popular at the time. The delivery department is great, and It’s just a good group of people.
Brandon: As of right now, I’ve been in car sales for about 6 years. I started working at Wheaton Honda at the start of 2012. I made the switch from a different automobile manufacturer because of the resale, the reliability, the quality of Honda products. Also, as Dan mentioned, the delivery department of this dealership is just beyond any others in the city.
What is your favourite thing about working at Wheaton Honda?
Brandon: My favourite part about working at Wheaton Honda is the relaxed atmosphere. The group of people that we work with and the management staff are great. You know, low turnover. And of course I like selling lots of cars.
Dan: The relaxed atmosphere, the flexibility. I’ve been here long enough that I have a good client base so I don’t have to rush to the door. And just the people that work here, the comradery, the friendliness of the environment, the laid back atmosphere, the flexibility and the delivery department. We just have a lot of things other dealers don’t have.
What is your favourite car to sell?
Dan: The CR-V. It’s probably the best balanced car in Honda’s lineup for living in Alberta. It’s got all-wheel drive, its price point is on the lower end, a ton of reliability, the resale value is extremely strong, and there’s just a lot of flexibility in the vehicle. It’s just great whether it’s summer, winter, fall or spring and it’s extremely well-rounded. It’s probably the best bang for the buck as for what you’ll find out there between safety, resale value, reliability, and usability.
Brandon: My favourite car is probably the Honda Civic. As Dan was saying, the features you get for the value. There’s not much in the market that has the features you get in the Honda Civic for the same price points. The resale value is definitely more than any of its competitors. It has the lowest cost of overall maintenance. So, that’s why I’d choose the Civic.
What do you guys like most about working together?
Dan: Brandon works hard and long hours. He spends a lot of time working with customers. I’ve been here a long time, so I have a good customer base and we don’t have to worry about competing. We get along. We both like to golf and we both like to stay busy when we’re here. Generally, I think we’re just on the same page for the way we deal with customers and we try to make a living.
Brandon: Yeah, Dan’s been here a long time, so I mean, if he’s not here I generally would help his customers because he does have a good customer base, and vice-versa. When I’m not here, Dan usually would take care of my customers for me as well. Yeah, we’re just generally on the same page with how we do business. We both enjoy working here and enjoy the people we work with, so I think we work well together.
You mentioned the way you guys do business. What do you guys do that should make people want to come deal with you?
Dan: The experience. We always make sure the customer is taken care of and make sure they’re aware of the process, what they’re doing and what they’re buying. And we always make sure the customer feels like they’re not being taken advantage of. You don’t have to worry about dealing with a manager and salesperson for two hours just to get the answers that you want, you can get them upfront. It’s straightforward, honest, easy, and laid back.That just doesn’t happen in most places.
What do you guys like to do outside of work?
Brandon: I just picked up golfing this year, so I’ve been doing a lot of golfing. I have a wife and a son, so I also spend as much time as possible with them. I like to play hockey as well in the winter months. I like to travel as much as I can as well. And working at Wheaton Honda, I have the flexibility to do all that, so it’s great.
Speaking of hockey, were you a fan of the hockey net that we had during our hockey promotion earlier this year?
Brandon: The hockey net was great while we had it for the slower times during the day.
Dan, what do you like doing outside of work?
Dan: I surf twice a week every week at West Edmonton mall in the wave pool. When the mall closes we have a surf club. I usually golf a couple times a week. I like the flexibility of being able to go on vacation and do other things in life besides work. It give you a good balance so when I’m at work I can do what I need to do and when I’m not here, find time to be able to do all the things I enjoy doing.
What is your favourite car of all time and why?
Brandon: I would say my favourite car of all time is the Lamborghini Gallardo. I’ve been a fan of them for a long time. I rented one when I was in Vegas a few months back. I really enjoy the car, so I would say that’s my favourite car of all time.
Dan: I’m definitely a performance car person. The Acura NSX and Acura S2000 are definitely my favorite Honda products. As far as other vehicles, pretty much anything with a Ferrari, Masarati or McLaren badge is a pretty good car. I’ve been lucky enough to go to Vegas and drive most of the cars I’ve wanted to drive on the track like the Lamborghini Huracan and some other high-end exotics.
So you guys both like going to Vegas?
Dan and Brandon: Yes!
Dan: Yes, I have a place in Vegas.
Brandon: Yes, we both love Vegas.
Dan: I go to Vegas probably twice a year on average.
Brandon: I try to go two or three times a year if I can as well.
Dan: Hopefully we’ll go down together at some point.
Is there anything else you want to share with people who are potentially looking to buy a car?
Dan: They should definitely come see us.
Brandon: Yeah, definitely come see us.
Dan: The biggest reason to come to Wheaton Honda and deal with myself or Brandon is the ease and openness of working with us and getting the right vehicle. You don’t have to worry about going through five different people to make a car purchase. You can deal with one person from start to finish basically.
We’re both very available and willing to answer any questions. I mean, I’ve been in the car business 12 years, Brandon has been in the business 6 years. You don’t find a lot of people that stick with dealerships, and we have.
We know at the end of the day, they’ll find we’re the easiest to deal with and that they’ll be getting the best bang for their buck. That’s the reason we have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and we’re the only Honda dealer in Edmonton with that rating.
Brandon: Yeah, definitely come down and see myself or Dan, we know the products inside and out, and you’ll get the best price and the best service out there. As Dan mentioned you won’t be going back and forth between several different people. We will generally work with you from start to finish.
