Honda’s innovation does not stop at its vehicle lineup. The automaker recently released an incredible new marketing campaign called “Paper” that shows off “The Power of Dreams.” The commercial first aired during Sunday Night Football in the US on September 20, 2015, and it has a lot of people talking. Honda worked with famed stop-motion directed PES to create the commercial, which details the history of Honda. “The Power of Dreams” is an appropriate tagline for the video because it shows where Honda began and how far it has come.
Most dreams begin on paper, even those at Honda, so using paper as the medium in the video is fitting. The 2 minute video uses stop-motion technology along with a whole lot of paper to create a fun to watch commercial that shows off Honda’s achievements in the automotive world and beyond. The video took four months to produce and required a lot of work from animators, illustrators, and PES. The video is really a wonder and it is kind of amazing how the team was able to utilize the stop-motion technique so seamlessly. “Paper” is both clever and allows consumers to connect with and relate to Honda.
The team behind “Paper” also shared a “making of” video explaining how the commercial was put together and what they were trying to accomplish. We think they were more than successful in creating a video that allows us to connect with Honda. Below you can watch the Honda “Paper” commercial as well as the behind the scenes video.
