Honda vehicles are designed to make life a little easier. One feature that is especially helpful is the Maintenance Minder light. This light will alert you when your vehicle is due for its next round of scheduled maintenance, which most often will cover oil changes and inspections. Unfortunately, this light is only helpful when it is reset after this scheduled maintenance is taken care of. Usually when you go to a Honda service center for your scheduled maintenance, a technician will reset this light for you. If you take care of it somewhere else, this light may not always get reset. Luckily this is something you can do on your own. We will go over how to reset the Honda Maintenance Minder light so you can get the most out of this feature.

Depending on your Honda model and trim, this process may vary a little bit. We will go over the most common way to reset the maintenance minder light. If for some reason this does not seem relevant to your specific vehicle, the instructions to reset this light can be found in your owner’s manual. For most Honda vehicles, the following instructions will help you to reset the Maintenance Minder light.
- First, turn the ignition switch to the “on” position, this should be position II.
- Press and hold the select/reset knob until the oil life indicator appears. This will say “oil life” and have a percentage. Resetting this light will change the percentage that appears to 100%.
- Press the knob again and hold for more than 10 seconds. This oil life indicator as well as a maintenance item code will start to blink.
- Press the select reset knob one more time and hold for 5 seconds. The maintenance code will disappear from the screen and the oil life will now say 100%.
That’s all there is too it! At this point the Maintenance Minder light is completely reset and will now alert you the next time you are due for scheduled maintenance.
