This system is included in a lot of new models from a variety of automakers and allows your iPhone to seamlessly connect to the display in your car. CarPlay works with the iPhone 5 and later and allows to you to make calls, send texts, get directions, play music, and use select third party apps.
When connected with CarPlay, you can control your phone’s apps through the touchscreen or through voice commands that work with Siri. It’s pretty likely by now you already know something about Apple CarPlay, but what you may not know is which Honda models have Apple CarPlay. Here at Wheaton Honda, we are incredibly excited that Honda has announced its plan to include Apple CarPlay in many of its future models. In fact, the automaker has already begun making the interface available in a few 2016 models.
The 2016 Accord and 2016 Civic both have Apple CarPlay standard in each lineup’s EX trim and above. If you know people who have an Android phone, they’ll be happy to know that this also applies to Android Auto, which is Android’s own system similar to Apple CarPlay.
Future Honda Models with Apple CarPlay
As far as those other Honda models that will be seeing Apple CarPlay in the future, Honda has been pretty secretive and hasn’t offered any official word yet. We can speculate, however. We think it’s pretty likely we’ll see Apple CarPlay show up in the Pilot and CR-V relatively soon, considering both SUVs are incredibly popular and many owners are looking for the latest features.
The Fit is likely to see Apple CarPlay in at least it’s higher trim levels at some point considering the demographic for the subcompact hatchback tends to be younger and more tech-savvy. Though the HR-V is brand-new for 2016, we would bet that the 2017 or 2018 model will see the addition of Apple CarPlay as well.
We are definitely looking forward to Honda’s future announcements about the addition of Apple CarPlay to other vehicles in the lineup. In the meantime, the technology can still be enjoyed in the new Civic and new Accord.
