Living in Edmonton is great because our city is home to a ton of great Christmas light displays that never fail to impress. Now, our city isn’t exactly small, so it can seem daunting to try to find the best places to view these lights on your own. So, we thought we’d narrow it down by offering a list about where to see Christmas lights in Edmonton AB. We have quite a few great options below to help you celebrate the holiday season in one of the best ways.
Downtown Lights and Tree

On November 14th Edmonton celebrated the annual Holiday Light Up celebration. Even though it’s over, you can still enjoy the beautiful downtown Christmas tree and lights throughout the holiday season beginning every evening at dusk.
The Festival of Trees

When: November 26th to 29th, 2015
The Festival of Trees has a lot more than just lights, from creative Christmas tree displays to impressive gingerbread houses to festive performances from choirs and bands. This is truly one of the best ways to ring in the holiday season in Edmonton.
Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane is a tradition here in Edmonton, offering a street with some of the best Christmas light displays in the city. Just take a walk down the street and you’ll be enchanted by the holiday magic.
Celebrate the Season Light-Up
Where: Alberta Legislature Building
When: December 3rd to 23rd, 2015
Celebrate the Season is an ongoing Christmas celebration that continues through most of December. The event starts with the traditional light up ceremony and continues with ongoing daily performances from area choirs and other musical groups. Come hear the music and enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights.
Festival of Light
Where: Edmonton Valley Zoo
When: December 4th to 13th, 2015
The Festival of Light is an annual event at the Edmonton Valley Zoo featuring wonderful holiday displays that are fun for people of all ages. Apart from the displays there will also be outdoor entertainment, skating, hot chocolate, and much more.
Bonus – ETS Christmas Light Tours
Where: Tours begin at City Hall
When: December 11th to 13th and 18th to 20th, 2015
Yearly, Edmonton offers ETS Christmas Light Tours for those who want to easily see the best lights in the city. Buses will take those on the tour to Candy Cane Lane, the Alberta Legislature, and other prime areas with Christmas displays around Edmonton.
