2016 Honda Civic named Canadian Car of the Year
We knew as soon as the details started to surface about the next-generation Honda Civic that it was going to be big. We were already stoked about the completely redesigned Honda Pilot and the return of the Honda HR-V, not to mention the fact that the Honda CR-V had just won a Motor Trend Award in 2015, but the release of the tenth-generation Civic got us even more pumped for the 2016 model year. And the vehicle that Honda delivered certainly paid off, as now the 2016 Honda Civic was named the Canadian Car of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada, in addition to already being named the North American Car of the Year.

“On behalf of the thousands of Honda associates across the country including the more than 4,000 at our HCM facility who lead global production of the 10th generation Civic, I’d like to thank AJAC for this award. The all-new Civic is the most innovative, ambitious and advanced iteration Honda has ever produced, setting a new benchmark in the compact car segment and we’re both elated and humbled that AJAC has recognized this achievement,” stated the President of Honda Canada Inc., Jerry Chenkin.
The 2016 Honda Civic beat the other two finalists – the Volkswagen Golf R and Golf Sportwagen – on February 11th, officially being crowned the Canadian Car of the Year, which only put the exclamation point at the end of an already fantastic 2016 model year. Everything about the next-generation Civic is brand new, from the architecture to the very aesthetic of the vehicle – both inside and out.
Different 2016 Honda Civic Models
Thus far, we’ve only seen the release of the first two models, the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe and Sedan models. Within the next several months, we expect to see the other three version released, among which will be the sportier Si models, a brand-new Hatchback model, and the highly-anticipated, high-performance Civic Type-R, which we simply cannot wait for.
Be sure to continue checking in on the Wheaton Honda blog to find out even more information about the Honda Civic as it becomes available. Until then, feel free to give us a call at the sales desk with any questions that you might have regarding the Sedan and Coupe models.
