North American Debut of Third All-New Honda Civic Model

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Canadian Release Date

The auto show season is in full swing, and a few of the most exciting reveals so far this year have been occurring yesterday and today at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. One of those reveals, as we informed you earlier this month, was the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype. The prototype originally debuted in Geneva a few days ago, but it made its North American Debut yesterday in New York. While we’re far from learning an exact Canadian release date, we’re already getting extremely excited about the new vehicle making its way here to Edmonton.

“The Civic Hatchback wraps the 10th-generation Civic platform and five-door utility in emotional, Euro-inspired styling. Offered with the first application of the 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with a manual transmission, this Civic to date will attract a whole new set of enthusiasts and buyers to the model and Honda brand.”

Early Specs & Features of the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

Thanks to European inspiration, the idea of a “hot hatch” has steadily been increasing in popularity over the past couple of years. With hatchback vehicles like the Honda Fit and Ford Fiesta gaining ground, more and more models are being introduced to the segment. Thanks to that, Honda has decided to introduce a true hot hatch in the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, complete with a 1.5L turbocharged powertrain and the ability to opt for a 6-speed manual transmission instead of the CVT. This is great news for sporty drivers who prefer to have a little bit of extra cargo space in their vehicle.

The newest addition to the 10th-generation Civic lineup is perhaps the sportiest-looking model yet, as well. While we might not be used to seeing hatchbacks as sports cars, this model definitely makes us realize how great they can look, and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel and experience it for ourselves. We don’t have many other specific details about the Hatchback’s specs & features, but as more information becomes available – including on the Canadian release date – we’ll be sure to keep you well informed.
