2018 Honda CR-V Rumors & Updates
Thanks to gossip that has been swirling for months, and photos that have been circulating the internet for weeks, plenty of 2018 Honda CR-V rumors & updates have been circulating so far this year. At first, the rumors were for the 2017 model year, but with the time for making those announcements quickly diminishing, it seems more likely Honda’s compact crossover will enter its fifth generation in 2018 instead. We thought we’d go over just a couple of the rumored updates that could be coming to the popular crossover, to give you an idea of what’s in store.

The first rumor that we heard is that the new Honda CR-V will be built on the tenth-generation Honda Civic platform, which would create some pretty major changes throughout the vehicle as a whole. Another rumor says that the CR-V will increase quite a bit in size, not only making it appear bigger from the outside, but also enabling both 5-seat and 7-seat options for the crossover, previously only available in the Honda Pilot
Obviously anything that we hear about the powertrain options is very up in the air, but the rumors we have heard are pretty exciting. A 2.4L engine and a 1.5L turbocharged, obviously. Both of those are pretty generic. Where things get exciting, is that we’ve also heard rumor of a 2.0L turbocharged engine that is essentially a detuned version of an engine found in the Civic Type-R. The final option? A 2.0L engine tethered to two electric motors, creating the first plug-in hybrid electric crossover on the lineup.
Finally, as with any generational shift, there will be some cosmetic changes for the new model. Based on the camouflaged images circulating the internet, there will be some pretty major changes to the front fascia, perhaps even the rear. We assume the vehicle will be made much sportier than before, to match with the shift the whole brand has been taking. But beyond that, everything is still pretty hazy.
