What is Dual-Zone Climate Control?
It is Tuesday. Last week, we accidentally posted about something else on Tuesday, pushing our How’s This Work post to Wednesday. But this week we’re back on track and taking a look at what exactly dual-zone climate control is. It’s a feature springing up more and more often in vehicles today, several Honda vehicles in particular.
It’s very different from air conditioning, and gives you and your passengers more freedom to be comfortable. No more freezing because one passenger is hot, or vice versa. And it’s all thanks to dual-zone climate control. But before diving into what that is, we should probably explore the differences between climate control and air conditioning, to give you a base understanding.

Difference Between Air Conditioning and Climate Control
Climate Control allows you to set a specific temperature for the cabin of your vehicle, making it very similar to the thermostat in your house. At home, if you like it to be 70 degrees, you set it to 70 degrees and the system makes sure your house stays at that temperature. Climate Control in your vehicle works virtually the same, allowing you to set a specific temperature, rather than just blasting the air conditioning and filling the whole vehicle with cold air.
How does Dual-Zone Climate Control Work?
Dual-Zone Climate Control allows you to take things a step further, creating “zones” for both the driver and front passenger. Some vehicles even take things a step further, giving passengers in the back seat their own climate zone(s). Essentially, you can set your climate to 80 degrees if you’re freezing and can’t get warm, while your perpetually-hot passenger can cool things down to 50. Those are a little extreme, but great examples for how Dual-Zone Climate Control works.
