Today is Halloween, which means it’s time to look forward to the next holiday here in Edmonton, which happens to be Remembrance Day on November 11th. There are plenty of different services around the country in 2016, but if you’re looking for a service to attend here in Edmonton AB, then we’ve got you covered. You can check out the list of services below to help find some way to observe the holiday.
A Musical Salute to Our Veterans
What better way to remember those that have made the ultimate sacrifice than by listening to the Royal Canadian Artillery Band’s Musical Salute to Our Veterans? Taking place on Sunday, November 6th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the City Room of City Hall, this will be the 4th annual concert of its kind. Not only will the RCA Band be playing, but so too will the RCA Band Jazz Ensemble, the Richard Eaton Singers and local cadets.
Remembrance Day Service at City Hall
Later in the week, you can head back to the same room for the official Remembrance Day Service at City Hall. The service is held so that we can all honor and remember those who have sacrificed themselves for our country, and everything that they have achieved. Led by the Commanding Officer of The Loyal Edmonton Regiment, the event will run from 10:15-10:35 a.m. on Remembrance Day – November 11th.
After the service, everyone will process to the cenotaph just outside City Hall Plaza for the wreath-laying ceremony. The city asks that everyone find a place clear of the cenotaph by 10:50 a.m. so that the wreath layers have room to get through and so that the ceremony can begin promptly at 10:55 a.m. and run until 11:30 a.m.
We want to thank everyone who has given their life protecting our great country, and everyone who continues to make that risk. Sincerely, thank you from everyone here at Wheaton Honda.
