2017 Honda Ridgeline North American Truck of the Year

One of the most important awards on the market here in North America is the North American Car of the Year Award – and if you’re a truck, its Truck of the Year counterpart. Back when the sporty Ridgeline was first introduced in 2006, it was awarded the coveted North American Truck of the Year award. Now in 2017, the first model year for the truck’s second generation, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline repeats this difficult feat by capturing its second North American Truck of the Year award.

“This award is a prized validation of the innovations and advantages the Ridgeline offers midsize pickup truck customers and a great recognition of the American development team’s work. This is a terrific way to kick off 2017, and we’re looking forward to sharing more innovative Honda products in the year ahead.”

- John Mendel, Executive Vice President, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

How did the Ridgeline win?

What makes the North American Truck of the Year Award so appealing and interesting, is that it isn’t decided by a single publication. Whereas many awards are given out by a magazine, a website or a company – where bias could perhaps exist – the North American Truck of the Year Award is decided by a group of journalists. The group is more than 50 members deep and made up of journalists from both the U.S. and Canada.

Some of the things that led to the Ridgeline’s second win include its unibody construction, which is an industry-exclusive architecture, its innovative truck bed, which includes more exclusive features like a dual-action tailgate and in-bed trunk, and many more.
