2019 Honda Pilot vs 2019 Subaru Ascent

2019 Honda Pilot vs 2019 Subaru Ascent

This year the Honda Pilot received an exciting facelift, getting refreshed both inside and out. While many things about the vehicle remain the same, such as its powertrain, many design cues, technologies and other offerings have been updated or enhanced. In that same vein, rival company Subaru introduced a brand-new midsize crossover to the market for the new model year called the Ascent. We figured we’d see how these two new crossovers measure up to one another by pitting the 2019 Honda Pilot vs 2019 Subaru Ascent.

Advantages of the 2019 Odyssey

We’re just going to work our way through the table to give you a better idea of how these two vehicles differ from one another, kicking things off in the top row with performance. A simple glance at the table above will tell you that the Pilot delivers superior power, but it might not tell you just how superior. While it’s clear from the first row that the Pilot generates an extra 20 horsepower, it takes a look at the second row to show the fact that the power advantage is actually even greater. The Pilot weighs nearly 400 pounds less than the Ascent, which is a sizeable difference, and means the Pilot needs less power to get up and go.

The third row does show that the Subaru Ascent has an advantage of its own, in terms of fuel efficiency. Honda vehicles are known for delivering excellent fuel economy, but the Ascent undercuts the Pilot by 0.5 l/100km combined. That means some savings at the gas pump over time. The fourth row simply highlights the fact that both crossovers offer plenty of seating, fitting up to 8 to be exact.
