2016 Honda Accord vs 2016 Volkswagen Passat
Today we thought we’d take a look at two of the best vehicles to come out of the ‘70s and stick around straight through to today. In ’73 Volkswagen introduced us to the Passat, but in ’76 Honda introduced us to the Accord. Who knew that several decades later they’d both not only still be around but remain two of the most popular midsize sedans on the market? Today we have decided to stack the two most recent incarnations up against one another, comparing the 2016 Honda Accord vs 2016 Volkswagen Passat to see which vehicle is superior.
Advantages of the 2016 Honda Accord
We’ll do that by looking over the table above, which at first glance certainly proves both vehicles are quite comparable to one another. Starting from the top, the Accord offers an extra 15 horsepower. It’s not a massive advantage, but those extra horses could go a long way towards delivering a more enjoyable driving experience for anyone who slides behind the wheel of the 2016 Honda Accord. More importantly, and more noticeably, the Accord achieves 8.7 l/100km city fuel efficiency, which is 0.7 l/100km less than the Passat, meaning you’ll save quite a bit of change at the gas station.
The Passat however does stand somewhat strong in one area, by offering a slightly larger trunk, but 0.1 cu. ft. in the trunk isn’t exactly a big enough advantage to chance the tides of this battle in our opinion. Besides, on the space front, the 2016 Honda Accord fires right back by offering 1.1 extra cu. ft. of passenger volume in the cabin, ensuring that all of your passenger have enough room to stretch out and get comfortable.
