2016 Honda CR-Z vs 2016 Toyota Prius c
Two of the most sought after aspects in the automotive market are sportiness and a hybrid powertrain, but not often do you see those two aspects combined into one great vehicle. That is the goal that Honda has in mind when creating their sport hybrid coupe, the CR-Z, and we think they accomplished that goal. But there aren’t many likeminded vehicles out there, so to speak, that fit the same profile. We decided to see how it measures up to a vehicle that is probably one of the closest to accomplishing the same goal as the CR-Z, so we compared the 2016 Honda CR-Z vs 2016 Toyota Prius c.
Advantages of the 2016 Honda CR-Z
While the Prius wasn’t designed with sportiness in mind, its c model comes close to fitting the bill thanks to its small, city-focused stature. Though as you can see from the table above, its engine doesn’t exactly keep up the sporty nature, as the CR-Z delivers an extra 31 horsepower. Unfortunately, however, the Toyota Prius c more than makes up for what its lacking by delivering a fuel efficiency rating of 2.0 l/100km less than CR-Z, and there’s not much we can do there.
In terms of space, the two vehicles each have their own advantage yet again. The hot-hatch CR-Z offers an extra 8 cubic feet of cargo capacity, while the Prius c delivers an extra 30.3 cu. ft. of passenger space. Those two number might seem lopsided, but when you think about it the Honda CR-Z is a 2-passenger vehicle, so that’s 74.2 cu. ft. of space to split between two people, while the Prius c can fit up to 5 passengers in its 104.5 cu. ft. You do the math!
