2017 Honda Accord Hybrid vs 2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
The 2016 model year did not see the return of either hybrid Accord model, in fact the Accord Plug-in Hybrid got completely discontinued. We weren’t sure what the future held for the regular Honda Accord Hybrid, until a news release revealed some very exciting news, that it would indeed return, with tons of great enhancements and upgrades, for the 2017 model year. We thought we’d see just how well this new model measures up to one of its biggest midsize hybrid sedan competitors by comparing the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid vs 2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.
Advantages of the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid
For starters, the all-new Honda Accord Hybrid underwent the same renovations as the Accord Sedan and Coupe did the year prior. With a sporty new aesthetic and plenty of other striking enhancements, all the Hybrid needed was to breathe new life into what made it different – its hybrid technology. That didn’t seem to be a problem for Honda engineers, as they deliver a new midsize hybrid sedan that was not only more efficient than its previous version, but was the most powerful hybrid vehicle in its segment.
Glancing up at the table above, we can see that the Accord Hybrid has more advantages than just its class-leading power over the Sonata Hybrid. On top of its extra 19 horsepower, it also utilizes just over an entire litre less fuel ever 100 kilometres driven through city streets, and 0.3 l/100km less fuel on the highway to boot. But power and efficiency weren’t the end of the advantages, as the Honda Accord Hybrid also offers a larger trunk in the way of 0.4 extra cubic feet of cargo capacity.
