The Honda Civic might be the most popular vehicle on the lineup, but the Accord is certainly a close second. It doesn’t have quite as many different options as the Civic, but it still comes in three distinctly different models. The Accord Sedan is probably the one you’ve seen cruising the streets of Edmonton most often, and that’s because it makes a great option for any type of driver. But we thought we’d see just how well it measures up to another popular model in the midsize sedan segment, by comparing the 2017 Honda Accord Sedan vs 2017 Ford Fusion.
Advantages of the 2017 Honda Accord Sedan
The table above takes a closer look at some of the most important aspects to consider when shopping for a sedan like one of these. We figured the best way to give you a better idea of how these two sedans compare to one another would be to scoot right down the table, taking a closer look at each row. So, for starters, we looked at fuel efficiency.
First we looked at just how efficient they are through city streets like those running all through Edmonton, in which case the Accord Sedan blows the Fusion out of the water. The Honda Accord Sedan achieves 9.0 l/100km, which means it utilizes a whole 2.2 litres less fuel to travel the same 100 kilometres as the Ford Fusion when driving in the city. On the highway, the Accord keeps up its advantage though it’s not quite as steep at a difference of just 0.5 l/100km.
However, efficiency isn’t the only aspect in which the 2017 Accord Sedan has a leg up on the Ford Fusion. It also offers an extra 10 horsepower, which isn’t a massive advantage but does help deliver a more enjoyable driving experience each time you get behind the wheel. Further enhancing that experience is the fact that the Honda utilizes a continuously variable transmission, giving it what many consider a much smoother ride than the Fusion’s 6-speed automatic.
