2017 Honda Civic Coupe vs 2017 Hyundai Elantra
The absolutely incredible new tenth-generation lineup of the Honda Civic continues to grow, as the 2017 Civic Hatchback just arrived here at Wheaton Honda and we just got our first glance at a prototype for the Civic Type R. The first two models were introduced for the 2016 model year, so now that the 2017 model year is upon us they’re being carried over into the new lineup, but didn’t need to undergo any new changes. That doesn’t make them any less impressive though, so we thought we’d see how it compares to one of its biggest competitors, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra.
Advantages of the 2017 Honda Civic Coupe
As you can tell by perusing the table above, the two vehicles are quite comparable to one another. Every specification that we looked at is extremely close, but each one of those specs is led by the 2017 Honda Civic Coupe. Let’s start at the top with city fuel efficiency, in which the Civic Coupe utilizes 7.8 litres to drive 100 kilometres, which is 0.3 litres less than the Hyundai Elantra. Then on the highway, the Civic Coupe utilizes 5.7 l/100km, which is 0.5 l/100km less than the Elantra. Neither of those are substantial advantages, but you will save some money on gas in the long run.
Generally, when a vehicle offers superior fuel economy ratings, it has to sacrifice some power, but not in this case. Here, as you can see, the Civic Coupe still offers an extra 11 horsepower more than the Elantra. Once again, not a massive leg up, but enough to deliver a slightly more enjoyable driving experience. Especially considering the last row shows that the Civic weighs 59 lbs. less than Hyundai Elantra, which essentially extends that advantage by a few more horses.
Add the incredible suite of features that enhance things like comfort, convenience and especially safety, plus the extremely sport design of the Civic Coupe, and you’ve got the total package. If you think you’re leaning towards the 2017 Honda Civic Coupe, be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our website or by giving us a call so that you can come take it for a spin and make sure.
