2017 Honda Civic Coupe vs 2017 Mini Cooper
Many people might recognize the Mini Cooper from the hit 2003 crime drama The Italian Job. Similarly, many people might recognize the Honda Civic from being the best-selling passenger car in the country for the past 17 years. As both are compact, 2-door coupe vehicles, we thought we’d see how they measure up to one another by comparing the 2017 Honda Civic Coupe vs 2017 Mini Cooper.
Advantages of the 2017 Honda Civic Coupe
The table up above highlights some of the most important aspects of compact coupes like these, and after one glance at it you can tell that the 2017 Honda Civic Coupe is the superior vehicle. To the Mini Cooper’s credit, however, none of the advantages are particularly substantial, as it manages to keep things pretty competitive by limiting the Civic Coupe’s leg up. Let’s start with the top of the table, in terms of horsepower. While the lightweight Mini Cooper probably doesn’t need quite as much power to get the same amount of pickup, the Civic Coupe does offer an extra 24 horsepower, which is a decent amount.
But with the difference in curb weight, the horsepower advantage becomes somewhat null and void, so let’s move onto fuel efficiency, which is arguably one of the most important aspects in any vehicle on today’s market. Through city streets like those here in Edmonton, the Civic Coupe utilizes 0.9 litres less fuel to drive 100 kilometres than the Mini Cooper, and 0.5 less l/100km on the highway. Again, neither of those advantages are particularly substantial, but it does mean you’ll save a bit of cash at the pump over time.
Finally, the Civic Coupe offers an extra 4.5 cubic feet of space in its trunk, meaning you’ll be able to hold far more groceries or an extra suitcase or two, which is certainly a plus when dealing with such small vehicles.
