After undergoing a massive, incredible overhaul for the 2016 model year, we couldn’t be happier with the third-generation Honda Pilot. While the subcompact crossover market builds in popularity each year, the midsize crossover is probably the biggest segment in the overall utility vehicle class. With tons of options to choose from, we thought we’d compare two of them together to help whittle down your decision. So with that in mine, we decided to pit the 2017 Honda Pilot vs 2017 Ford Edge.
Advantages of the 2017 Honda Pilot
In the table up above we looked at four of the most important specifications to look at when purchasing a new vehicle, and we were pretty happy with what we discovered. We’ll go right down the table row by row to give you a better idea of how the two crossovers compare to one another, and we think you’ll see pretty quick why we were pleasantly surprised at the results. For starters, the first row depicts horsepower which is certainly important in big crossovers like these. The Honda Pilot happens to offer an extra 35 horsepower more than the Ford Edge, meaning it’ll be able to carry and haul more while also deliver a more enjoyable experience behind the wheel.
Then in the second row, the closest spec in the entire table, the Pilot offers slightly better fuel efficiency than the Ford Edge in the form of 0.2 l/100km. Admittedly, that is just barely an advantage as 0.2 l/100km would only save you a bit of pocket change in the long run. But the last two rows give the Honda Pilot a pretty big leg up in terms of size.
Offering 10.3 extra cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity, you’ll be able to carry a lot more with you with all the seats folded flat in the Honda Pilot. And if you instead need to fill the midsize crossover with people, you’ll be happy to know that you have an extra 18.3 cu. ft. of space for you and your passengers to stretch out and get comfortable in. If all of this adds up to the right new vehicle for you, be sure to schedule a test drive in a 2017 Honda Pilot by filling out the form below.
