2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2016 Toyota Tundra
After a few years on the bench, Honda is putting the Ridgeline back in play and we can’t wait until it arrives here in our showroom. After what felt like forever, we finally have all of the details on the midsize truck’s specifications and features, and it’s only boosting our excitement and anticipation. While we wait for more 2017 models to be announced, we thought we’d see how the second-generation sport utility truck measures up against one of the few 2016 models we haven’t yet compared it to, by pitting the 2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2016 Toyota Tundra. While it certainly didn’t receive as many updates or changes as the Ridgeline, the 2016 Tundra received a facelift making it a bit fresher as well. So let’s see how they stack up against one another.
Advantages of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline
We’ll start off this comparison by reminding you that the Ridgeline is a midsize sport utility truck, whereas the Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck. The two were designed for very different things, so in a way this is like comparing apples to oranges, but at the same time we wanted to showcase some of the differences and advantages. As you could probably gather before even looking at the table above, performance and capabilities are two areas that the Tundra is obviously superior. With its larger V8 engine, it will no doubt deliver more power and be able to haul or tow much more. But that is not the end-all, be-all specification in a truck.
Both trucks have the same transmission, and the Honda Ridgeline is obviously quite a bit more efficient than the Tundra. In fact on the highway, the Ridgeline only utilizes 9.5 l/100km whereas the Tundra needs almost 4 extra litres just to go the same 100 kilometres. On top of that, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline doesn’t weigh nearly as much as the Tundra. To be specific, it weighs just 2 lbs. shy of 500 lbs. less than the Tundra. That means more maneuverability, to be sure.
If you think the upcoming 2017 Honda Ridgeline is the perfect truck for you, don’t hesitate to sign up for more information as it becomes available. We’ll let you know as soon as the truck arrives here at Wheaton Honda, and get you behind the wheel at your earliest convenience.
