2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2017 Nissan Titan
We’ve been anticipating the release of the new Honda truck for the past couple of years, and now that it’s here we couldn’t be happier. It delivers the same great innovation and utility that we came to expect after the original model, while also offering a much more modern look and even sportier appeal. While there aren’t a ton of trucks in the midsize segment, we wanted to see how it measures up to a truck a little out of its paygrade by comparing the 2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2017 Nissan Titan
Advantages of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline
The Honda Ridgeline is a sport utility truck belonging to the midsize pickup segment, while the Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck. While that might not sound like much of a difference, in terms of power and capabilities it generally is a pretty big step up. We wanted to see just how precisely the Ridgeline measures up to the Titan in spite of this pretty substantial difference. And as you can see by glancing up at the table above, the Ridgeline does have some pretty big advantages.
Of course, the main advantages it has probably aren’t that surprising. Big trucks aren’t known for being the most efficient, but that’s where the Ridgeline starts to turn things around. Utilizing 3.3 l/100km less fuel than the Titan through cities, and 2.2 l/100km less on the highway means you’re going to save a lot of money at the pump while still having many of the same advantages you get with a big truck. Of course the drawback is power, in which the Titan delivers an extra 110 horses, which adversely affects the truck’s capabilities. It can do the same things a big truck can, just not quite as big. In other words, it has a bed, it can tow, it just can’t hold as much weight.
However, those 110 horses look a lot smaller when you consider that the Ridgeline does weigh 1,268 lbs. less than the Titan. It might not be able to carry or haul as much weight, but it can certainly deliver an exciting driving experience.
