Don’t Get a Blowout From a Low Tire!

Honda Tire Maintenance Basics

The tires on your Honda are probably one of the easiest components to forget and maintain until it is too late and you experience a blowout on the highway. Fortunately, the checking and maintenance of your tires is generally easy when you take the time to do so. Let us guide you through the basics of Honda tire maintenance!

Most auto maintenance guides will suggest checking your tire pressure from once a week to once a month. We suggest erring on the side of caution and checking about once a week, especially since tires take the most abuse. To check your tire pressure, you will need a tire gauge, which can be found in any auto parts store. Pull the cap off the air shaft and cover with the indented end of the tire gauge. The measuring end of the tire gauge will pop out and give you the tire pressure reading. Your ideal tire pressure will be listed in the owner’s manual, on the tire/wheel, or in the door/door frame on the driver’s side of your Honda.

How to Add Air to Your Tires

It is important to keep your tire pressure at the correct amount, as it will prevent your tires from being ruined and make your fuel economy more efficient. To add air to your tires, you will need an air compressor/pump. If you don’t have one, many gas stations provide air for a small charge or for free. Turn on the compressor’s valve and pull the air shaft off your tire. Place the end of the hose over the air shaft and fill. Once filled, check the pressure with the tire gauge to verify the correct number.
