Don't forget your Passport!
The 2022 Honda Passport gets a mild refresh this year with a new, more rugged exterior design that better matches the off-road capability of this exciting model. The Passport is equally at home on dirt and mud-strewn trails as it is on the highway or twisting mountain roads thanks to new, adventure-ready features such as a more aggressive front end and a new rear bumper with larger exhaust outlets. The cabin has been refreshed to promote a sportier, more adventurous character, and every version of the Passport has been enhanced with new Rear Seat Reminder and rear seatbelt reminder technology for additional peace of mind. This year also introduces a first-ever Passport TrailSport trim level that's even more emotional and adventurous and is designed to further advance Honda's new rugged design direction for its light truck lineup.
Trim levels and drivetrains
There are now four different versions of the 2022 Passport for buyers to choose from with the addition of the new, off-road-focused TrailSport variant. The 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport is packed with exclusive styling and unique interior touches, and it's the first of what will be a whole family of TrailSport models that Honda is introducing. This one features a unique grille treatment, more aggressive front and rear bumpers with skid garnish designs prominently painted silver, and Honda's i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and Intelligent Traction Management systems are part of the Passport TrailSport's standard specification.
The other three models start with the entry-level Sport trim level and then go to the EX-L and Touring models, and all of them come standard with that i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system.
Powertrain and performance
The same engine powers all four versions of the 2022 Honda Passport but why would you want something else under the hood when the unit Honda has chosen to go with covers all the bases for a vehicle of this type and capability? The engine in question is a 3.5-litre V-6 that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque that sends that power to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control.
All trim levels also come standard with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, an ECON mode button and Honda's Intelligent Traction Management System, and when properly specified the Honda Passport can tow up to a maximum of 2,268kg. As far as fuel economy is concerned, the 2022 Passport is rated at 12.5 L/100 km in the city, 9.8 L/100 km on the highway and 11.3 L/100 km combined.
Features and equipment
The standard specification of the entry-level 2022 Honda Passport Sport is pretty impressive and the higher trim levels can feel pretty luxurious. The Sport trim's standard equipment includes LED lights with auto on/off high beams, power moonroof, active noise cancellation, a multi-angle rearview camera, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, 10-way power driver's seat, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
As soon as you go higher than the Sport model, genuine leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, HD Radio, SiriusXM, a memory driver's seat, front and rear parking sensors and a power tailgate all become standard.
