The 2023 Honda Accord may be the first model year of the all-new eleventh generation of the legendary midsize sedan, but the enhancements are evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The exterior styling is strikingly contemporary, but it’s still instantly recognizable as a Honda Accord. Like all new Hondas, the 2023 Accord comes equipped with a raft of the latest safety features, efficient powertrains, a spacious cabin that borders on luxury, and plenty of the latest in-car technology, including a new infotainment interface layout, digital display, and audio system.

The 2023 Accord is available in six trim levels; two with a conventional gas engine and four with an enhanced version of Honda’s two-motor gas/electric hybrid system. The range starts with the gas-only LX and EX trim levels, and then we get to the Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and range-topping Touring hybrid models.

The base powertrain for the 2023 Honda Accord is the familiar 1.5-litre turbo-four producing 192 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine powers the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Although the base engine looks like a straight carryover from last year, the direct-injection system, crankshaft, and CVT are all enhanced to reduce engine noise, produce fewer emissions, and deliver improved performance.

Honda expects at least half of all 2023 Accord models sold to have the hybrid powertrain. It could easily be a much higher percentage, and not just for its impressive fuel economy. On top of stellar fuel economy, hybrid versions of the 2023 Accord deliver more power and better performance with 204 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque available. The hybrid system’s twin motors are now mounted side-by-side, allowing for a larger propulsion motor to be employed and producing more torque than the previous incarnation. The enhanced hybrid system is now more responsive to different driving conditions and delivers a more refined driving experience at highway speeds than the model it replaces.

Generous standard equipment

As you’d probably expect now, the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies is standard with every version of the 2023 Honda Accord. However, the new Accord features an enhanced version with a new camera featuring a wider 90-degree field of view and wide-angle radar with a 120-degree field of view. These upgrades work together to improve the performance of the Accord’s collision prevention systems. The all-new 2023 Accord is now better than ever at distinguishing between vehicles, pedestrians, white lines, curbs, cyclists, motorcycles, and road signs.

A 10.2-inch Driver Information Interface Screen is a standard feature with all versions of the new Accord, which replaces traditional analog dials and offers unique display functions depending on the powertrain. The LX and EX trim levels get a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while hybrid models upgrade you to a sensational 12.3-inch unit with a physical volume knob, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, and simplified user-friendly navigation structure featuring fewer menus.
