The 2024 Honda Accord may be the second model year of the eleventh generation of the legendary midsize sedan, but the enhancements it boasts over the last generation are evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The exterior styling is strikingly contemporary, but it’s still instantly recognizable as a Honda Accord. Like all new Hondas, the 2024 Accord comes equipped with a raft of the latest safety features, efficient powertrains, a spacious cabin that borders on luxury, and plenty of the latest in-car technology, including a new infotainment interface layout, digital display, and audio system.

The 2024 Accord is available in three levels: one with a conventional gas engine and two with an enhanced version of Honda’s two-motor gas/electric hybrid system. The range starts with the gas-only EX, and then we get to the Sport Hybrid and range-topping Touring Hybrid models.

The base powertrain for the 2024 Honda Accord is the familiar 1.5-litre turbo-four producing 192 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine powers the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Although the base engine looks like a straight carryover from the previous generation of this ultra-reliable engine, the direct-injection system, crankshaft, and CVT now offer reduced engine noise, fewer emissions, and improved performance.

Honda expects at least half of all 2024 Accord models sold to have the hybrid powertrain. It could easily be a much higher percentage, and not just for its impressive fuel economy. On top of stellar fuel economy, hybrid versions of the 2024 Accord deliver more power and better performance with 204 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque available. The hybrid system’s twin motors are now mounted side-by-side, allowing for a larger propulsion motor to be employed and producing more torque than the previous incarnation. The enhanced hybrid system is now more responsive to different driving conditions and delivers a more refined driving experience at highway speeds than the model it replaces.

Generous standard equipment

As you’d probably expect now, the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies is standard with every version of the 2024 Honda Accord. However, this latest Accord also has an enhanced version with a camera boasting a wider 90-degree field of view and wide-angle radar with a 120-degree field of view. These upgrades work together to improve the performance of the Accord’s collision prevention systems. The 2024 Accord is now better than earlier versions when it comes to distinguishing between vehicles, pedestrians, white lines, curbs, cyclists, motorcycles, and road signs.

Standard 2024 Honda Accord EX features include Active Noise Control, heated front seats, a 7-inch colour touchscreen display, an 8-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, a driver’s seat with 8-way power adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED lights front and rear, and a 10.2-inch full-digital colour TFT driver meter display.
