For as long as most of us can remember, the Honda Civic Sedan has been a fixture on the roads of Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Leduc, Spruce Grove, and Fort Saskatchewan. That tells you a lot about its quality and reliability. For the new model year, the 2025 Honda Civic Sedan gets refreshed exterior styling and tweaks to the specification that maintains its position as the standard-setter in the compact car segment. However, what’s going on under the hood is where the big news is happening.
The 2025 Honda Civic Sedan lineup is a game of two halves. Four trim levels are available that fall into two separate camps: hybrid and non-hybrid. The entry-level model in the 2025 Honda Civic Sedan family is the LX, and the next model is the Sport. You don’t need to be a talented detective to work out what sets the following two models apart: the Sport Hybrid and the range-topping Sport Touring Hybrid.
The entry-level LX and the 2025 Honda Civic Sedan Sport trim levels have Honda’s reliable 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine under the hood. This unit generates 133 lb.-ft. of torque and 150 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) equipped with paddle shifters sends the power to the front wheels to deliver seamless and effective performance with a degree of manual control. However, the other two versions of the new Honda Civic Sedan grab the headlines with their new hybrid powertrain. The system is still based on that 2.0-litre inline-four gas engine, but it works in conjunction with two electric motors to deliver a combined 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque. The extra power is impressive, but the fuel economy takes impressive to another level. The Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid gets 4.7 L/100km in the city, 5.1 L/100 km on the highway, and 4.8 L/100 km combined.
The 2025 Honda Civic Sedan interior delivers space, comfort, and quality. The Honda Civic Sedan comfortably seats up to five people, and all trim levels have heated front seats as part of their standard specification. Other standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a multi-angle rearview camera, and an 8-speaker audio system. The Sport trim builds upon the LX specification with speed-sensing intermittent wipers, a one-touch power moon roof, aluminium-trimmed sport pedals, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, and a 60/40 split rear seat with armrest. The Sport Touring Hybrid boasts a superb standard specification. The top model includes heated front & rear seats, leather upholstery, a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen, a Bose premium 12-speaker audio system, wireless phone charging, HD Radio, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, front & rear parking sensors, and a 10.2-inch digital driver display screen.
It would be easy to take the 2025 Honda Civic Sedan for granted. But why would you even consider overlooking a refreshed version of a car that has been setting the standards for quality and excellence for decades? Especially with the sensational hybrid powertrain that boosts the car’s performance and fuel economy.
