How's This Work? Android Auto

What is Android Auto?

A few weeks ago we looked into what exactly Apple CarPlay is, and for this week’s How’s This Work we decided to look at its counterpart: Android Auto. For the most part they both do very similar things, with the obvious difference being that one is for Apple iOS devices and the other for Android OS devices. So with that in mind, Android Auto allows you to connect your phone to your automobile’s display audio system and thus do things your phone can do through your car, like make calls and listen to music.

How does Android Auto work?

Currently, Android Auto comes standard on many trim levels for both the 2016 Honda Accord and Civic, as long as the display audio touchscreen installed. By pairing your phone to your vehicle, you will have access to a host of Android apps like Google Maps, Google Now, text messaging, your music, your phone and tons of third-party applications. As long as your mobile device is equipped with Android OS 5.0 or higher, you’ll be able to pair your device to Android Auto.

The video below will give you an even better idea of how exactly Android Auto works and gives you a first look at many of the capabilities that it brings to your vehicle. If you’re interested in finding out which Honda vehicles are available with Android Auto or which might become available in the future, feel free to give us a call at the sales desk and we’d be happy to help you.

If you’d like to experience Android Auto in action, be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our website for one of our Accord or Civic models at your earliest convenience.
